BUST

BLACKJACK TERMS DICTIONARY

BUST

In the game of Blackjack, the term "bust" means going over 21 points hard count (no aces counting as 11 points) and therefore having a hand of no value at all.  If your hand is ever over 21 points and is therefore "bust" it is best to signal that to dealer right away.  This is especially important if you are holding a blackjack card hand in your hand and the cards are not on the table where the dealer can see the values.  Proper blackjack etiquette is to show the dealer that you are "busted" and you therefore will lose your bet for that hand.

If the dealer should "bust" and go over 21 points with a hard hand (no aces counting as 11 points), then all of the players still having a valid hand - equal to 21 points or less than 21 points hard count - automatically are winners.

Note that bust hand means the same as bust.

Blackjack book   Book: The Complete Blackjack Survival Kit (click for info)
eBook Available from Google Play, Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble Nook

Does this book tell you how to win? No. It does tell you how you might get the odds in your favor, and gives some strategy tables for some of the more common blackjack games played in casinos. It also tries to explain using math and simulations why getting the odds in your favor may indeed improve your play, but why no one we know of can guarantee winning all of the time.
