PIT BOSS

BLACKJACK TERMS DICTIONARY

PIT BOSS

In the game of Blackjack, the term "pit boss" means the casino person in charge of a group of tables and also in charge of the dealers at those tables also.  The purpose of the pit boss is to see that the game is being conducted fairly and that no one - not the dealer nor any player are cheating or are making mistakes.  The pit boss may elect to also watch any large money exchanges to also ensure that they are done correctly - or any change of decks of cards to new ones.

If a pit boss is watching you, that might be great for your ego that you are an important person to them, but it also may be a concern.  A pit boss will sometimes watch players that are either winning big or if they are doing something unusual - such as varying their bets by large amounts.  A pit boss is therefore usually watching in order to determine if the player is cheating or card counting - things that rank about the same in the mind of a pit boss.

Blackjack book   Book: The Complete Blackjack Survival Kit (click for info)
eBook Available from Google Play, Amazon Kindle, Barnes and Noble Nook

Does this book tell you how to win? No. It does tell you how you might get the odds in your favor, and gives some strategy tables for some of the more common blackjack games played in casinos. It also tries to explain using math and simulations why getting the odds in your favor may indeed improve your play, but why no one we know of can guarantee winning all of the time.
